Pardew gone

Alan Pardew has left West Brom by mutual consent.
West Bromwich Albion have parted company with manager Alan Pardew after eight successive league defeats.
The 56-year-old was appointed on 29 November after the Baggies sacked Tony Pulis following a run of 10 Premier League games without a victory.
A 2-1 defeat at home to Burnley on Saturday left Albion 10 points from safety with six games left.
First-team coach Darren Moore will take charge of first-team affairs "until further notice", the club said.
The club statement read: "West Bromwich Albion and Alan Pardew have agreed to mutually part company following discussions between both parties.
"Assistant head coach John Carver will also be leaving.
"The club would like to thank Alan and John for their efforts and wish them well in their future endeavours."

Not a nice person. Met with him a number of times whilst he was at West Ham and he is such an arrogant prick who just thinks of himself as untouchable. Slowly but surely the Pardew myth of being a top manager has run its course.
I’d hasten a guess we will be seeing more of him sitting in a chair as a pundit than we will in a dugout.

There are quite a few anecdotes about Pardew from different sources at different clubs that he has managed. What they illustrate is that basically he is not a nice person. You can get away with an attitude if you are delivering but when that stops your days are numbered.
I have sympathy with the fans of WBA because their owners have made mistakes and if they don’t learn from the experience of other relegated clubs they might struggle next season like Hull City.

New Jersey, we had ONE decent season after he got us promoted. Then it all turned to shit.
I read somewhere that Dean Ashton said Pardew’s nickname at the time was ‘Chocolate’ as he had so much self-adoration he would eat himself if he could. It says a lot about him.
I wonder what he will do now. Surely he won’t get any Prem jobs.

2005/2006 best since 1986.
Personally I think he could have turned it around with the Jan window and Eggy sorting out the dressing room problems instead of dumping Pards.

Ashton WOULD HAVE BEEN one of the clubs best ever signings, were it not for his injury.
He was hardly an unearthed gem and picked up from the lower leagues though.

I agree with that. A lot of his best buys were players from the same league as us at the time, and the ones he did buy from the lower leagues weren't that successful.
Ashton is one of the clubs best ever signings. sadly the injury put paid to what might have been and yossi lit the place up for a while. His performance in the 2006 cup final was phenomenal. he never stopped running.

How many managers have sustained their success in the long term? Of those that have managed long term in the Premier League, I can think only of Sir Alex Ferguson - and a couple of others who have sustained lower levels of success.
Arsene Wenger hasn't managed to sustain his success of the early 2000s.
Dyche and Howe have both been incredibly successful when you think of what they've achieved with small clubs on a small budget. When you take those handicaps into consideration, there's a strong argument to put them at the same level as Ferguson.
Another who has maintained his level is our old friend, BFS.

For me his time at West Ham was like lying on a beach but having loads of sand up your arse. Meaning at face value it was decent but in reality it was fucking annoying.

A lot of his football has been branded as long ball/direct, but he was very good with his words not to suggest that (POWER AND PACE, for example).

I don't like him. He swings from bolshi, gobby slippery weasel to doe-eyed, down in the dumps victim.
Bloke needs a fucking slap to balance him out.
Obviously never a top level manager as has been proven. Probably would be a decent coach under a decent manager.

Sad truth is that apart from the 'top 6' plus Everton, all the teams below will be relegated within an 8-10 year cycle.
It could be injuries to key players, manager loses the plot, inept owners, dressing room mutiny, unfair fixtures against top teams at start of season etc, etc.
It may well be that managers like Pardew, Pulis, Moyes have had their day and it will be interesting if the 'bright young things' such as Dyche and Howe can keep on sustain their success.
As for Pardew, his time at WH was mixed for me, did struggle to get us up, but then a couple of fantastic seasons, then I remember being at Middlesborough with Tevez on the bench ffs, one of the worlds best players of the last decade!!

I didn’t like him. He seemed like a soapy politician, which to be fair, is probably a big reason why he’s survived all these years despite his hot and cold record.
Being a successful manager is much more about being a ‘likeable’ character that it was in the past.
